10 Songs For Male Strippers For Mardi Gras

Posted on February 24, 2020March 8, 2022

I’ve collected a few songs that I feel will work for Mardi Gras strippers. Be careful to choose one that you have the ability to successfully dance to, or strip to. For U.S. citizens our Mardi Gras celebrations are mostly derived from the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. I’ve included songs from the TV Show, “The Originals” where the story is based mainly in the French Quarter of New Orleans. I’ve also added well-known singer, Harry Connick, Jr., who is a New Orleans native. I’ve added three songs from the HBO series, “True Blood” which was based in Louisiana.

What is Mardi Gras?

Matthew Diebel wrote a great article for USA Today providing all the information you need. I recommend you read it so you know what and why you are celebrating. Click this link to go there, “Mardi Gras: What is it, and how do people celebrate every year“. It started as a predominately Catholic celebration. We have all made it our own and turned it into a big party. Of course, we are always looking for any reason to party.

The Mardi Gras Mask

From the research I’ve read, the Mardi Gras mask was originally worn so the wearer could mingle with all social classes and be someone else for a few days. You could escape your social class and party like you wanted. You can find Mardi Gras masks in a wide range of prices. There are simple masks that costs one or two dollars or you can buy specialty masks for several hundred dollars. You can find a variety of Mardi Gras masks on Amazon here.

The Colors of Mardi Gras

According to neworleansvipexperience.com, the colors purple, gold, and green were chosen by the Mardi Gras Rex (or King) in 1872 because he thought they looked good together. In 1892 the Rex declared that the colors were chosen for actual meanings purple for justice, green for faith and gold for power.

Why Are There Kings And Queens or Royalty at Mardi Gras

The Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans consists of parades and balls put on by Krewes (pronounced “crews”). Each Krewe selects its own royalty who reside over the ball and ride a float in their parade. Each Krewe runs their own parade on a specific night at a specific time. The members of the Krewes are the ones who throw beads, doubloons (coins), and candies from the floats during the parade. There are more than 50 Krewes in Southwest Louisiana. Find out more about Krewes here.
