From my observations it is not necessary to be a great dancer to be a male stripper or pole dancer. A male go go dancer on the other hand should develop greater skill in the art of exotic dancing.
- #1 - Search for music you love and weigh its merits for use in a male stripper routine.
- #2 - Search YouTube for dance moves.
- #3 - Subscribe to male stripper channels on YouTube.
- #4 - Watch other male stripper and go go boys at live venues.
- #5 - Hire a dance coach or instructor.
5 Tips For Improving Male Stripper Dance Skills

Tip #1 Search For Music You Love
Have you ever had a song that made you want to move? It may start only as the tapping of a single foot. Next you start to sway back-and-forth. You add in a little head bob. Before you know it, you are up on your feet and your body is tingling and wanting to move.
Search online for music that moves you. Make a list of any songs that have ever made you feel like the description above. After you have made your list, review it and ask yourself if any of the songs on the list would be good for a male strip performance. Or, would any of the songs be great for a club playlist for go go boys?
Keep a list and any time that you hear music that makes you move, write it down. Buy it and save it to a "Male Stripper Playlist". It starts with the best music selection.
When creating a routine for a performance, filter the songs on your playlist by the theme you are wanting to use. A cowboy theme and a superhero theme suggest very different styles of music. Find something on your playlist that will fit the theme.
Tip #2 Search YouTube For Dance Moves
A less talented dancer may become a successful male stripper, pole dancer or maybe even a go go dancer. Dance skills can often be offset by looks, personality or body build. However, it never hurts to improve your dance skills, and in today's digital information world, you can find all the help you need.
As I was writing this blog, I did a search on YouTube for "Male Stripper Dance Moves". I received several pages of listings in the search response. Some were for female strippers but most were for male. I found several YouTube videos that I watched and can recommend.
As you go through and watch them, take note of all dance moves they are describing. You might not be interested in trying one the first time around, but as you develop routines for your performances, you may want to refer back to a particular video.
Save the videos on a YouTube list or make a bookmark and save them in a folder marked "Dance Moves".

Watch as many YouTube videos as you possibly can looking for dance moves on each one. Take a weekend and binge watch.
#3 Subscribe To Male Strippers On You Tube
As you are going through and binge watching male strippers, subscribe to those who you feel are good dancers and who provide quality information and instruction. I have recommended two male strippers below. They will guide you through dance moves and give you many other tips and suggestions about the exotic male dancer industry.
Javier Markham
I have been following Javier on YouTube for a while now. He is an Aussie based in the U.K. He has danced with a male review and he regularly does private parties which he calls stripper grams. He is also popular for bachelorette parties. He has a growing gay audience as well.
Javier provides information on dance moves and much more. He gives you tips from his experience on costuming, the business side of male stripping, dealing with customers, workouts, photo shoots, etc. I recommend that you subscribe and follow him.
Male Stripper Academy
Tommy Gun is an experienced male stripper who provides training for those wanting to become a male stripper. He does have a paid option that you can join under the Male Stripper Academy but he also provides lots of free information in his YouTube videos and on his website. He is based in Australia but most of his training also works in the U.S., U.K. and many other countries.
His focus is on dancing for females but those of you who dance for a gay audience should be able to apply much of the instruction to that venue as well.
Tip #4 Watch Other Male Strippers Live
Whenever you are not performing, go to a club that is featuring male strippers or go go boys and watch how they dance. Unless you are a professional choreographer, there is rarely anyone that comes up with a new dance move. It's ok to copy a dance move from someone else. But, it is not ok to copy their complete routine.
Take the time to learn from others. You can learn dance moves and a lot more. For example, what costumes are they wearing while they are dancing? What underwear - brand name and style? What music are they using when they perform? Did they use any props?
You can copy a move from another dancer but your similar move will still be different. You have a different body and your body moves differently than anyone else. You are unique. Therefore, the same dance move will look differently on you.
Don't forget to check the club dance floor. There are patrons who are very good dancers. Watch their moves. If you think they are really good, ask them if you could get a few dance move tips from them in a private session. Talent is talent whether it is on the stage or on the dance floor.
Tip #5 Hire A Dance Coach or Instructor
If you are planning on making a several year career out of being a male stripper, go go boy or member of a male review, invest in yourself and hire a dance coach or instructor. Ask your social media communities if they can recommend a good one in your area.
Be straightforward with your instructor and let them know why you are there and what you hope to learn. If you think you have talent as a dancer, I recommend that you think ahead. You could become an instructor for other exotic male dancers. I see a YouTube channel in your future.

Final Thoughts
In some situations there is actually very little dancing that occurs for male strippers. You are seductively removing your clothes, not necessarily dancing. There are customers who want to tip you and you should stop and receive the tips.
If you are a go go boy, there will be a lot more dancing and you should work to become the best dancer you can be. Looks, costumes and music will only take you so far. In many locations, the go go dancers receive tips as well. Stop and spend a few minutes with the customer to receive the tip and thank them.

In my experience it immediately creates a feeling of being ‘tricked’ and ‘cheated’ into something with the customers, and they are less likely to buy a more expensive dance from you later.
I think this could be a good comment worthy of discussion, however, it is too vague. What creates a feeling of ‘bring tricked and cheated’. “In my experience” – what is your experience? Please add more so we can learn from the discussion.
