Underwear is the business uniform for male strippers and go-go boys. It is worn and/or revealed during every performance. In most cases, the high end brands fit better and help create a sexy look for the male dancer. The high end brands also come with a higher price tag. A male stripper or go-go boy performs to make a living. Some may perform several nights per week which will require wearing the stage underwear more often or buying more pair of underwear. Look Your Best
Being A ProfessionL
Looking your best while performing is part of being a professional . It requires a pair of underwear that fits perfectly and is comfortable. You want to feel confident in your appearance while in front of an audience. Underwear that has a baggy butt, stretched-out elastic, or the color is faded will cause your confidence to drop and not be appreciated by potential tippers.. I have the need to wear dress shirts and ties on a regular basis in my business life. When I find a dress shirt that fits well and one of which I really like the design and color, I feel more confident when I wear it. Because of that feeling, I will buy 2-3 of the same shirt. Underwear does the same thing for male strippers and go-go boys but with more emphasis on physical assets. When a male dancer is well-endowed, he should purchase underwear that promotes and displays this fact. The same can be said for a bubble butt and strong thighs. These physical assets are some of the reasons a customer will tip. A sad looking pair of underwear could destroy the potential for income. Take care of your underwear so you can always look your best.
Images Captured For Promotions
Audience members, club staff, friends, etc., will have their cameras out when you perform. They will be taking pics of you and posting them on social media. Potential tippers, show directors, club managers, etc. will all see your pics. You want your underwear to be in the best shape possible and look the best on you as well. The social media posts will promote you for new opportunities to perform.
Caring For Your Underwear
Separate By Color
Separating your underwear by color will help to avoid any dyes of different colors from discoloring or causing color spots or blotches. Most quality made underwear will be colorfast and dyes will not bleed onto each other. If you make separating colors a procedural habit, then you'll never have an accident if somehow a cheaper brand of underwear finds its way in your laundry.
I personally like Woolite. I have no particular reason other than my mother used it in our home when I was growing up. I am not being sponsored by Woolite. I have seen other brands being sold when I have purchased Woolite. I knowTide has a mild detergent. Any mild detergent should work just fine.
Hand Wash or Gentle Cycle on Washing Machine
From the articles I've read and the YouTube videos I've watched, hand washing in mild detergent in cold water is the best option for underwear care. If the underwear have any stains, I pre-treat the stain by rubbing a small amount of full strength Woolite directly on the stain and letting it sit to the side for 10-15 minutes. I have a plastic square tub the I put 1 1/2 gallons of water in with 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of Woolite. I move the underwear around in the water stirring up a few suds. Then gently squeeze it in my hand a few times while in the water. If the stains do not wash out, I use a small soft bristled brush and scrub the stains gently to remove them. Let the underwear sit in the soapy water for 15-20 minutes. When I feel the underwear is clean, I squeeze out the excess water with my hands. If you want to wash several pair at one session, wash the lightest first and move through them washing the darkest color last. If the washing water gets murky, pour it out and make a fresh batch. Lay underwear to the side for rinsing.
If your washing machine has a gentle cycle, wash like colors of underwear together. Wash only underwear, do not add other types of clothing. Follow directions on detergent container for appropriate amount of soap. Hand washing is the best option to make your underwear last longer but the gentle cycle works for those who know they are not going to take the time to hand wash. My washing machine does not have a setting called "gentle". I have a setting called "lite" and one called "extra lite".
Pour out the used copy water, rinse tub then refill with clean cold water. Move the underwear around in the water, squeeze it out a couple of times and repeat movement in order to remove soap. Let underwear sit in cold water for 10-15 minutes. Gently squeeze out all the water you can from the underwear.
Before hanging the underwear to dry, I fold a bath towel in half. I place 2pair of underwear side-by-side on the towel and roll them up inside the towel. When the underwear is covered on both sides by the towel, I gently squeeze up and down the length of the towel to remove more water for quicker drying.
If you washed your underwear on the gentle cycle in your washing machine, gather them from the machine and get ready to hang to dry.
Drying Your underwear
Air drying your underwear is the safest and least damaging way to dry them. According to classic cleaners.com, "The dryer is what does most damage to clothes causing shrinkage, warping elastic, and the tumbling action is very rough." I hang mine on the shower curtain rod in the second bathroom. We don"t use this bathroom for showers so I can leave them there until completely dry. And yes, I have cartoon monkeys on my shower curtain, don't judge me.
Your underwear is softer when dried in a machine dryer so there is a trade off. If you hand wash and air dry your underwear, let me know if you have any tips or suggestions that can be added to this blog. Leave a reply in the comment box below.
